Katsina ranked 3rd state with highest number of deaths from attacks in Nigeria.

A study of news reports and data gathered from the Council on Foreign Relations, has indicated that

Katsina State is ranked among the top three states that recorded highest number of deaths in 2020 as a result of insecurity affecting the country according to a report recently released by a non-governmental organization, Council on Foreign Relations.

Katsina  learns however that the number captured included only data of reported killings from January to December last year.

According to their report, three states namely Borno, Kaduna and Katsina  recorded for no less than 45% of the total deaths in the country from January to December, 2020.

Katsina Post, however, learnt that the deaths recorded included only data of reported killings from attacks by unknown gunmen, kidnappers and bandits.

Report put Katsina in the 3rd position with only Borno and Kaduna above it in terms of the deaths recorded.

Katsina has 375 recorded deaths in the last twelve months, making it with 11.4% of the percentage.

In the period under review, Katsina state recorded instances of four mass killings that led to the death of more than 30 people in each of the instances.

The prominent causes of deaths in the state, were attacks by unknown gunmen, kidnappers and bandits.

In total, the state, according to the data reviewed by this newspaper, was attacked 52 times by rampaging gunmen.
