Job Title: Field Specialist (Instrumentation)

Location: Bonny Island, Rivers
Slots: 2 Opening

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provide mentoring and on-the-job training to young Nigerian technicians with special emphasis in the areas below.
  • Conduct tasks related with the maintenance and operations team.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems.
  • Ensure flawless startup and commissioning of instrumentation effective following with repair and replacement.
  • Conduct functional tests on instrumentation as a requirement for facility changes, upgrades and modifications.
  • Conduct instrument performance evaluation to identify optimization and enhancement opportunities within the process system.
  • Ensure compliance with Health Safety and Environment requirements as specified for executing required instrument maintenance or repairs.
  • Comply with classification and prioritization system for completion of work orders as determined within the maintenance management system.
  • Assist planning plus operations staff to identify skills and resources needed to complete planning and reactive work activities.
  • Comply with every approved operation and maintenance procedure.
  • Perform with maintenance planners as scheduled workload.
  • Comply with all instructions for job task completion.

Job Profile
Minimum of Educational Qualification & Experience:

  • A recognized technical certification up to a Higher National Diploma level relevant to process automation, control, instrumentation, and process systems.
  • 10 years working experience in process systems instrumentation and control a minimum of 5 years should be working experience on oil field, petrochemical, or oil and gas handling projects, including working in design and engineering construction of such systems, including planning, supervision, training/competence development for junior engineers.
  • Appropriate certification IVQ, NVQ or C&G qualification as a certified assessor or trainer in technical skills.
  • Considerable dedicated specialist instrumentation control experience on IPF, SIS, Custody Transfer preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in an NLNG or GTL plant in the most recent past.
  • Good supervisory qualities and experience, including good communication skills.
  • Familiar with codes, standards, regulations, and practices applicable to the operations, maintenance, upgrades, and engineering design of process instrumentation.

  • Lead the piping design team in the development of piping systems, including design and layout of piping, selection of piping materials, and development of isometric drawings.
  • Ensure designs follow industry standards, customer specifications, and safety regulations.

  • Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, and API 650.
  • Proficient in 3D piping design software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Smart Plant 3D, or Bentley Open Plant.
  • Ability to lead a team of piping designers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) designation is an asset.
  • Experience with project management tools and techniques is an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of oil field engineering and construction methods including its practice and procedures.
